#12 If I said that I couldn't have written pedipalps. Though writing it is not as much fun as saying it.
4. Urmensch 36 days ago on video Peacock Spider In Action
#9 Males inseminate the female spiders by depositing sperm on a small piece of webbing, which they then pick up with their pedipalps. These are a pair of appendages near the spider's mouth. He puts this little package of sperm in the females genital opening. This is why it looks like he is biting her.
Actually, it is the females who eat the males. Any males who inseminate and then eat the females would not successfully pass on their genes. Bad strategy. However, a female eating a male after sex would get a nice package of protein to help her eggs develop. It doesn't happen every time, though.

In medieval homes they used to have a similar setup to turn meat on a spit, and there was even a special breed of small dog to turn it.
The breed disappeared once there was no longer any use for it.

I've been a vegetarian all my life so I've never eaten crab.

12. Urmensch 134 days ago on video Watch the flight of a bumble bee
#2,
The old myth that "bumblebees shouldn’t be able to fly" was based on calculations using the aerodynamic theory of 1918-19, only 15 years after the Wright brothers made the first powered flight. So, while these early theories suggested that their wings were too small to create sufficient lift, since then scientists have made huge advances in understanding aerodynamics and how different kinds of airflow can generate lift.

#2 Butter is about 20% water, but it's better to just use the defrost setting to soften it.
Though I normally put in a bowl with an inch of water and put the butter on a plate above the bowl. That way the water is heating the plate from beneath as well.

It could be the case that it's infected with Toxoplasma gondii which alters the brains of rats and manipulates the behaviour making the rat unafraid of cats. This leads to them being more likely to get killed and eaten by the cats thus passing on the T. gondii to the cats.
It is how T. gondii has evolved to help spread itself.

I'd imagine that the fabric would have a maximum capacity and that once reached it would be swapped out with more fabric while the oil-soaked fabric would be taken away, heated, have the oil extracted, and then be re-used later.
It says that the fabric is re-usable and it would defeat the purpose if ambient temperature was enough to release the oil captured.

He hated his mother and used to tell us that he had a brother who was schizophrenic and he'd tell us all the crazy shit his brother got up to.
After years we eventually met someone who grew up with him and it turned out he had no brother.

We never were sure if he knew that he had no brother and it was his way of talking about himself but not freaking us out or if he had split off that part into someone else.

I did see that someone came up with the idea of putting mochi in a waffle iron and it crisped up. I'd try that. The Japanese have even made a special waffle iron for it and they call them moffles.

74. Urmensch 2 years ago on video Anti-homosexuality tape from Uganda
Christians obssess about Biblical taboos against homosexuality because it is something they can all get behind with no cost to themselves.
They ignore all the other things considered taboo, like eating shellfish, wearing cloth of two fabrics and the rest, and especially ignore where Jesus says to give all your wealth away to the poor and to forgive those who trespass against you.
No, because that might mean they should go without that nice new house or car or hairdo and instead give to charity, or not bitch about how someone slighted them or jumped the queue at the supermarket.
Pathetic.
