this design is perfect for all speeds because it as adequate aerodynamic wing space to accommodate for those speeds.

looking into this further, i have concluded that the phenomenon is this video is a "shock wave"

according to wikipedia, a shock wave is much faster than the speed of sound. after doing some research, i concluded that: 1: the "boom" sound heard at the moment of explosion at 0:00 is most likely caused by the first instance of the shock wave. if they were using something similar to TNT, the speed would be about 6,900 meters a second (source wikipedia). the force that effects the camera and the dust on the ground is the trailing section of the shock wave.

let me break down how i got my calculation because obviously you dont have a clue:


A: based on the sound which the explosion makes at the very beginning of the video at 0:00, im estimating that it took 1/2 a second for that sound to reach the microphone (camera).

sound of explosion = 1/2 of a second.

B: the speed of sound is 344 meters per second (source: wikipedia)

speed of sound = 344 mps

if you divide the speed of sound by the speed of the explosion you get 172 meters.

344 (speed of sound) / 2 = 172 meters

like i said before, that calculation was an educated guess based on minimal data and was only as an example because people took #7s calculation for face value, although it was completely incorrect.

first id like to say that although the "spark" (or electrical arc) didnt look normal, it could have been because the arc was covered by a cloth making only some of the light visible.

second, that prank was a very simple circuit and didnt need a ground connection. the only thing that was done was creating a switch in the form of a strip of aluminum which would connect the positive and negative of the battery when pressure was applied to the aluminum foil (btw, this will make the battery explode or leak if prolonged).

when the guy put pressure on the foil thus making an electrical connection, most of the electrons flowed back into the battery and some flowed into the guys hand, through his body, and into the wet shower, down the drain, etc. in fact, even if the shower wasnt wet and the guy just happen to be standing on something completely insulated he would have still gotten electrocuted because his body (which is a good electrical conductor)would have served the purpose as the external ground source. in fact, anything conductive (preferably metal) and with a large enough density can be used as a ground source.

the whole purpose of a ground source is to dissipate excess electrons which could potentially damage equipment. normally, electrons would have been dissipated within any electrical device before the remainder reached the negative connection of the battery.

im going to say, not fake.

because of the lack of data, it is impossible to calculate that distance. however, we can have an educated guess. according to wikipedia, the speed of sound of dry air at a temperature of 20 °C (68 °F) is 343.14 meters per second. assuming that the temperature in the video is probably a little hotter than that we can assume that the speed is not to far off. since the sound of the boom occurred in less than a second im going to assume that it took at least half a second (if not less) for the sound to reach the camera which would mean that the maximum distance would be about 172 meters or 565 feet (172 x 3.2808399 feet, rounded up). thats about as close as you can get.

the area of reflection on the metal ball indicates that the light source could be coming from the camera itself.

also, if you look at the two side glass plates, you can see a major color difference. this indicates that the glass like material is reflecting light at a sharp angle. considering the fact that the sand is very fine, has a white reflective surface it is not too difficult to believe that light could reflect off of the inside of the container canceling out most shadows and reflections that the sand would cast under different circumstances.

however, it does not disprove the fact that the waves in that video were created by an air front. an air front (or weather front) "is a boundary separating two masses of air of different densities" (according to wikipedia), which are the exact conditions in which a gravity wave will form.
