#4 I assume you don't know much about turbo-diesel engines
#6 Diesel engine is damn effective... I couldn't imagine a truck with petrol engine... Most of the time you would be seen at gas station. If you want a fast car and you don't care about consumption - you buy a car with petrol engine. If you care about your wallet and don't need super top speed - you buy a car with diesel engine. It's simple

#7 is right, Big Rigs like that are about 500Hp stock, but the guy that tune this engine change everything around the block (turbo, computer, etc), just for example the injectors go from a pencil size to bigger than a quarter! When they are well tuned, truck like that go around 2000HP and can drag faster than a mustang saleen (see on youtube). This is the reason for that black smoke, its run fast as hell!!

Yes you see something and only see all the negatives.

i would of found this amusing when i was a kid, at 25 i'm to old to now.
makes me laugh how some people are trying to justify how good and efficiency of diesel engines are, they may be right. this only applies when they are being put to use properly. a burn out isn't a proper use. a waste of all that fuel and rubber on the tyres, what is the point exactly.
now if the engine blew up and all the small minded people in the crowd cheering and filming caught on fire, that would be worth watching.
rant over, let the thumbs down begin

Exactly like petrol engines, diesel engines also run rich when increasing revs quickly. It prevents detonation. Modern engines all detonate mildly as the computers run very close to the edge. The diesel is perhaps not willing to run so close to the edge, plus has a longer stroke and needs more protection. Running at full power you could see the exhaust was clear.
