Impressive yes but was the truck carrying a proper load? Something near to legal weight capacity perhaps? Maybe it was and we didn't see it but that would clearly affect the impressive breaking.

Volvo has always be ahead of most other car and truck manufacturer in term of safety. Both for the passengers (eg. top notch crash test center : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HYdKoXPGqJg) or others people not in the car (eg. expensive safety features : http://www.snotr.com/video/9799/Volvo_s_new_Pedestrian_Airbag).

I feel safe driving my V40, and I won't change for any other brand unless they provide the same level of protection. When you see how many crash videos they are on Snotr... You know what I'm talking about. I don't know about other countries, but here in France and Europe, the EuroNCAP safety centers has always rated Volvo's with 5/5 stars.

#6 In the equivalent youtube video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ridS396W2BY) the description says the the truck is loaded with 40 tons of GCW (Gross Combination Weight)... Which only makes it more impressive!

I do not get one thing , in the last test you can plainly see the car in front accelerate to avoid the truck hitting it , looks like there not as good as they make out. (Watch the inside view that car is not only moving but just before it hits the back it takes off)

#12 For what i see..the truck just hits it slightly and dips it a bit forward..still better than getting crushed by several tons of load. (ok..they didnt show how it wouls behave on a fully loaded truck..but still)

#12 That would be called an optical illusion. Because the camera stays pointed at the truck, which is coming to a standstill, and the car keeps moving at the exact same slow speed, it looks like it is accelerating even when it isn't. Compare its speed relative to the background - it only changes a tiny bit because the angle of the camera increases relative to the test track (cars in the distance look slower). There is no physical contact either, because you would hear a very recognizable plastic-crunching noise.

the cars behind will crash in the truck. they cant even see that the truck driver is way to fast when something is in front of him

This is simply a demonstration of a radar monitoring braking system. Watches trailing distances and warns if you get too close. Then will brake the vehicle if you don't respond. It is also used in cruise control systems to monitor following distances.

Does this awesome system also come with two pairs of clean pants? Looks like both drivers would be in need of a change afterward!

That inside view at 0:52 looked like a sure crash to me but it wasn't -- trucks have a completely different perspective on traffic.
