why a "humane" way for the death penalty? isn't it more effective if people where really terrified to commit crime, so they wont have to endure the penalty itself?
is it a penalty or euthanasia?

#(removed comment) you might have suffered from hypoxia and took some permanent damage. I don't care for the american political system at all, but do you really think that one person decides on everything that is going right or wrong in a country. That is not even the case in north corea.
If something is going wrong from your point of view appeal to your congressman, take interest in politics and start petitions that ask for a change. Usually the majority will listen to reason, if you have a valid point.

It is like Carbon mono-oxide poisining. You won't notice the lack of oxygen, the body only reacts to large amounts of CO2, if it is replaced with a non oxygen gas, or there is no CO2 at all, you won't feel anything unpleasent.

Brilliant. Seems much cheaper than the other humane ways of killing people. No expensive chemicals and it won't show that much on the electricity bill.

Humane death penalty is an oxymoron.

#13, #1 I have to say this but somehow it looks like more and more people in this society are losing emotions and feelings or losing the ability to accept sadness and such alongside the positive emotions. Without them we coulnd have good ones.
Anyways...this may be a wrong observation...

#11 do you think a cat would have turned his oxygen back on? In reality we are the least self destructive species we know of. Sure we have plenty of killings and wars, but we are also the only species that considers this natural response as an atrocity. In short, the majority of animals kill each other, but humans are the only ones who show any restraint or remorse at all. The fact that we are ashamed of how self destructive we are is in itself a sign that we are less inclined towards violence than any other species.

Why in 'Other' and not in 'Documentary' or 'Science'?

Rather than thinking about the death penalty for criminals, wouldn't this be a perfect method for euthanasia, when people chose to end their lives due to terminal illness. Seems like a no brainer to me and you die happy.
