This may seem scary, but I'll take my future with an extra helping of freedom thank you. And just wait until we can 3D print with graphene...

Regulations won't stop anything, those are just words on paper. It is just not cool to use a 3D printer for guns, possible they ban the printers for firearm parts, making it almost impossible to develop the technology for medical use.
But that is common. Create a machine or technology with the intention to save a life, and always a jerk who turns it into something to take a life.

I don't see the problem here. They've printed their own lower receiver and mag to prove that it can be done. This means that firearms regulations (and probably others) aren't going to work because components can be acquired without record. In the mind of a politician this means 3D printers need to be regulated too because they can print restricted items.
They are just proving a point. Here in the UK private ownership of most firearms has been banned by regulation, and it's only affected recreational shooters. The loonies who shoot up schools and the criminals and gangs can still get hold of them for less than the cost (and less hassle) than a realistic BB gun.

Ban violent movies, and violent video games, and the ban violent music...while your at it ban your mother too! Whatever it takes just don't ban your precious guns!
In South Korea people listen to music and watch violent movies and play video games more than anywhere else in the world, do you know how many school shootings they had? ZERO! Because guns are banned!
Damn hicks!

It's sad to see such a nice technology used to created weapons instead of useful things
#11 why would you want to use plastic bullets?

With the current price of the plastic used for the 3d printers, it's pretty impractical. If there is a legal means of obtaining these parts, like a federal firearms license, that's probably the better way to go.
You can make your own guns, that's not illegal, but manufacturing a gun and selling it to someone else is already regulated.

This isn't necessarily a bad thing. Guns are not necessarily a bad thing. There are a lot of law abiding gun owners out there. Unfortunately, there are also a lot of highly strung nuts. As evidenced not only in the US but also China, if people can't get their hands on a gun, they will attack with whatever they can find, whether it be a fertilizer bomb, a knife, or a hijacked aircraft.

#17 why do you mention china. There is no problems with shootings, fertilizer bombs or hijacked aircrafts over there.
#16 double the amount produced and the price will go down by 10%. With 3D printers i bet you any amount you are willing to wager that production cost will go down below 1% of the current price within 5 years.

There are so many gun nuts in America it is not funny and it is spreading. And as far as I am concerned, if you are against guns, and you are nuts, you are a gun nut. The real issue here is not the device, but the people who are nuts. Why were well over half of the mass killings in the US done by people on legal drugs? Why is nothing being done about drugs that list psychotic behaviour as a known side effect? Is it something to do with them being worth billions a year? What about all the killings of less than four people, drug related? Why are people jumping on the bandwagon and ignoring known issues? Obsessive behaviour that ignores the facts is still nuts whether it is pro or anti gun.
