whaou, now that's some fog. Normaly the ILS will get you close enough to the runway but here the fog's so low and dense that it's really the short final approach that it is impossible to see so it won't help.
I hope there was a good ATC/ground control to help them that day.

How come something you can see from distance disappears when you come closer?
0:29 Look at the road that crosses the runway. It disappears before it's out of the picture.

Happened to me once, on approach to Munich airport. Quite scary as suddenly the engines rev up again! But the pilots keep their cool. There was just a raincloud exactly over the runway on first approach, the second time around it went smoothly.

#4 I would say it's great execution because of great training. That's is a very dangerous situation. They had the runway environment in sight; which is required to descend below decision height ("minimums" ) and lost that visual pretty close to the runway. Excellent Job!
