but on a serious note: I hope this tech, if successfully implemented commercially, will not be used to create a total surveillance of all, but to make cures in a bkink of an eye or perfecting traffic.

So basicly Quantum computing is when you ask your Computer: 2 x 2 = ? and it answers Brown!

Yet another video about quantum computers which fails spectacularly to explain how a quantum computer will work.

#4 ...because they DON'T KNOW O:)
this is how you explain the unknown. "it can be 1 or 0 or whatever"

I swear I've seen 20 videos about quantum computers but I still don't get them. Damn those smart people make me feel dumb :(|)

You misunderstand me Jim.
I'm well aware of how difficult it is to get your mind around Quantum physics.
But every time the issue of a quantum computer comes up, an explanation similar to above is put forward, but they never get to the point of explaining the nuts and bolts of an actual device:

...we put this wire here, and this wire here, here is the input and here is the output...

Maybe it's a secret... :|

According to this vid, a quantum computer is just a pc running windows vista.

I wonder what it would tell us if we ask it "What is the answer to life the universe and everything?"

I watched this and wondered if I watched it on a mobile would I understand it, but because I watched it on my PC now we will never know. All I do know is that my brain is leaking now

#7 i guess thats because quantum computers still do not exist..only prototypes in science labs wich dont compute accurate right now. This video (and others) just explain the plain theory on whats the difference between a normal binary system and the Qbit system. A video explaining the hardware would take hours and a Qpc right now takes the space of the first computers..it fills a room and needs a lot of energy. Try to explain electricity and how to get/use it to people from the stoneage..or try to explain the internet to my mom..not that easy =)

(even explaining how a "normal" CPU or GPU or RAM works is not easy to explain from the hardware side)

My personal view is that the whole field of Quantum Computing is a complete blind alley, in the past ten years the progress has been virtually nil. Scientists love to witter on about the theory of it all, but I don't believe any realistic progress will ever be made, and there never will be a fully functional and useful Quantum Computer.

#7: I heard one interesting word in this clip: entanglement. Maybe you can compare (somehow) using entangled qbits so you can look at it without affecting the other. If you got comparison, you got a computer.
