Realize what there doing is shining that big light on them so they jump. This is illegal. Still cool though.

Actually, it's not illegal. I go fishing with lights all the time. Never had this happen though. Hell, there are lighted fishing buoys for sale at the local walmart, designed to attract fish for night fishing.
Now if this were deer... that would be different.

Now they need to somehow preserve all of the fish for future consumption, and start a nuclear war.
They could sit in a bunker for fifty years and never go hungry.

Amazing
Is this for real? I mean those fishes could sunk that boat if those guys decided to stay on the water for too long. Just amazing.

Hahahaha - he keeps getting sconed by fish. What kind of fish are they and why are they jumping? It's not the light because if you look in the background fish are jumping there too. It's really very odd.

I can just imagine one day this'll happen:
Dude: mom, we need to go to the emergency room.
Mom; Why?
Dude: I was doin' that flash light thing, and a fish bit my eye out.

Remember:
Just because something is illegal in your country doesn't mean that it's illegal all over the globe. ![]()
(Just saying, a lot of comments have called thing illegal, which it might not applyable
I've never used light to catch fish though.. Used flashlight to catch crabs (Cancer pagurus) under a pier when I was a kid, but never to catch fish..

Never seen a fish actually jump just by a light, this obviously must be a very specific fish type. Most fishes when during the night, they are "sleeping" on the bottom of the lake(of course depending on the fish). If you actually lit a light the fishes will be frightened and swim DOWNWARDS not up. This is what makes this video so weird. Anyone see what type of fish that is?

I recently watched a video about this on youtube, (you can find it by searching flying fish).
It isn't the light that makes them jump, it's the sound of the motor, the video also stated that these fish accidently got in that river, and they're squeezing out the natural population, so they even arrange competitions for catching this kind of fish.

The men are speaking Portuguese and the video was taken in Brazil in a conservation area where fishing is not allowed. The fresh water fish in the video are Matrinxa (Brycon cephalus). This is a species that hates motor noise which agitates them into jumping.
I wonder if the authorities would consider this 'fishing' since the little fishies are donating themselves to the men in the boat?

I think where they are it is legal as the word gets. I guess the fish populate well there So I don't think I would worry about it. Sure looks fun though. Be cool if a hundred pounder jumped in the boat with them. ![]()
