URB-E visits China

This is called an URB-E and is the world’s most compact electric vehicle. It has a 20 mile range on a single charge, a top speed of 15mph, and can fold small enough to fit next to you on a train or bus. No more worries if your bike is still locked outside. Take it with you.

We had similar things in holland a couple of years ago. Same specs. But here you can't drive them on the public road. Because you can't get insurance for such things. I think that's a shame. :(

Three reasons it'll never happen:

Crash helmet?

Insurance?

Road Use registration documentation?

#4 What are you talking about 1) just because you don't need to wear one I China doesn't mean you couldn't use it elsewhere with a helmet der. 2) You can get a motor cycle insured?????? 3) Oh I can't be arsed ::(|)

I want one!! But I bet it wouldn't work well with a 6ft7 bloke weighing in at 115kg.

And wouldn't this fall into the same category as a bicycle? You don't need helmets or insurance for those.

#1 Yes it comes in black. The product wasn't meant to be the answer to all transportation. The goal was to create a foldable and portable electric vehicle for commuters and urban dwellers to help with the challenges of getting to and from transit hubs. The small plug-in electric scooter folds neatly for carrying on a train, bus, and elevator as a person rushes on their way to a restaurant, work or catch a flight. Since the URB-E is carried with you, there's no worry about finding a place to lock it. One of the models on the web site stands 6'4" and the torque is astonishing. Again, it wasn't meant to solve world peace or replace high performance gas vehicles, but to help a growing number of urban dwellers move about with cleaner energy and portability.
