I love the control of the mic on the boom. Keeping it just in the right place and twisting it under doorways, and not getting it in the shot. And I love how the furniture and walls move out of the way for the camera team. Pretty cool set design.

Things like that explain very well why they have to add most of (if not all) the sound afterwards. Please do yourself a favor and never watch these documentaries before the movies and TV shows. Never watch them at all if you want to preserve the magic.
