I was in that same situation, I stood my ground and the dogs gave up.
However it depends on the type of dogs, farm or sheep dogs are different from stray dogs... and if you come face to face with guard dogs... you can stand your ground but you won't be standing much more.
I love dogs

The dogs were not angry. The rider overreacted and started yelling, so the dogs started to bark as a reaction. Just hear him talking about the suing people bs and stuff. He is the angry one.

What a drama queen! Those dogs were never going to attack him. If they were, screaming like a little girl wasn't going to stop them. And why did he stop? If he kept going nothing would have happened.
Stupid. His man card is revoked!

The bottom line here is that no one should have been put in that situation. It was not private land is was a public road. Nobody needs 25 dogs to protect anything!!! You cannot expect someone, anyone, passing by on a bike to be a dog psychologist. If you don't know about dogs (wagging tails or not) you cannot be expected to know whether they are going to attack you or not. All you brave individuals giving advice above would have pissed yourselves if put in the same situation. The guy on the bike was totally correct in all his comments. If this had happened in the UsA, Canada or UK the farmers would have been in deep shit.

#11.
Dogs don´t need to show signs of anger to be hungry.
And dogs get happy when they see food, so don´t believe that just because you see a dog wagging it´s tail, it means it´s happy to see you!
These dogs shows clear signs of wanting to attack, don´t underestimate pack mentality, even in humans

Angry dogs? Most of them were wagging their tails. If he had just gone on his way, he probably would have been just fine.

The dogs were not aggressive at the start, they were just barking and interested, and the guy started being aggressive to them.
BUT I agree to #13, no-one should be put through that and they should be kept away from the road.

So, apparently acting like a frightened prey item by screaming and flailing about while backing away is supposed to get dogs who are defending their home to lay down quietly and allow you through.
Don't worry, if that doesn't work you can always threaten to sue the owner for not teaching their dogs to stop barking at a dumba$$ when they wet themselves.

I have been in this position with just 3 dogs - all were wagging their tales, drooling, snarling and barking, and they bit.. HARD!
I had to have hospital treatment and numerous shots.
So this guy has a reason to be afraid of 25 dogs.. he could have been killed.
It only takes one to make the jump and the others will follow.

We can say anything but if he goes without saying nothing at start, perhaps dogs don't do anything.
We can see just when he start to shout, dogs goes to him ...
And we can see that this man don't now anything about driving sheep in open lands dogs are not here to protect them but to drive theme and to let them grouped.

Guys and gals,
As far as I can understand this event happens in Greece. I have a lot of experience with such dogs around Turkey, Greece, Bulgaria, and the other neighboring countries. These dogs were not going to attack as long as they were not made mad buy strange aggressive reactions. You should keep calm, don't pay any attention and keep on walking or cycling. These are not the dogs which are not fed, so they would not eat you. Only thing they want to do is to warn you that they are there and protecting the territory. Most of these dogs would be afraid and run away if you would do as if you are picking a stone to throw at them they would run away. If they are the brave ones don't run away, then just sit down, don't look in their eyes and keep still. The most they would do is to mark you with their urine. Because I'm a tracking guide, I had been in such a situation many times. If you let the dogs notice that you are not a thread for them and just trespassing, then you would not have any problems. Otherwise just sit down and let them cool down. Give them the time to understand that you are not a threat to them.

#26 Oh for goodness sake!
Here is the point ->. and you missed it by about a mile. The vast majority of people riding a bike, don't come armed with the knowledge of what 25 dogs barking, growling and running towards them are saying. If you are a tracking guide you should be aware that Joe public is likely going to do what nature has prepared him or her to do 'Panic like Fu*K'. I repeat what I said in 13 above:- no one should be put in that situation and no one is going to read the guide 'What to do in the event of being approached by 25 possibly angry dogs' because if they did they would also need to read 'What to do in the event of being approached by 25 possibly angry cows' and 25 inquisitive little green men with probes and rusty hypodermic needles'. My case along with my keypad is thoroughly rested
