It was the current from the wire that shocked him (as it would) not the eel. Typical first day on the job apprentice prank. Over here we send them out for glass hammers left handed screwdrivers and skyhooks. I once sent a new starter out to collate the office lunches including a quarter of a pound of chicken lips. >:)
