Nissan develops "self-cleaning" car

Washing a car can be a chore -- and a costly one at that. In response, Nissan in Europe has begun tests on innovative paint technology that repels mud, rain and everyday dirt, meaning drivers may never have to clean their car again.

It doesn't exactly clean itself, it just doesn't get dirty! O:)

Of course the wet mud doesn't stick. But I'm sure that bugs shattered at 130 km/h will stick just the same.

#1 the paint only lasts about a year, after which time most people would start going to car washes again (as repainting probably won't be cheap).

actually this has been around for ages, its a spray you can put onto anything, there are videos on here of it stopping oil from sticking to gloves, and mud not getting on boots. all nissan have done is mixed it with paint and called it new.
