Interesting and fun to watch. Next step would be to go from qualitative observation to quantitative analysis. Which of those fuels gives the best thrust per 100 grams of fuel? His qualitative assessment shows preference toward a faster burn time. Is a quick maximum thrust preferable to a longer burn time lower thrust? Maybe he could put his lego blocks on the scale and record the measurements as they fire? He would need a mount so the blocks don't move around and a way of recording that isn't dependent on sight due to the smoke but those are doable.
