Still this notion that Japan surrendered because of the A-bomb.. The carpet bombing did more damage than the A-bomb. At least be sceptical to those who write history and have a favorability in the way it's being depicted. History is the single most important knowledge we have.

#4 using that logic, bullets caused more damage than carpet bombing.
The two A-bombs used as a scare tactic towards both Japan and Germany, carpet bombing was expensive and running dry. The shock of such a weapon forced surrender by Japan, not knowing how many more maybe in production.
To me its hard to decided if the A-bombs effectively saved lives or destroyed more, I'm not convinced America 'shared' their true understanding of fallout and effects. Fact is the second ended the war and indicated clearly how WW3 would be played. Nuclear Stalemate.

#6 Huh?
#7 You are misunderstanding either what logic is or what carpet bombing does. One raid of carpet bombing did more damage than one A-bomb. Cities in Japan was mainly wooden, so firebombs caused massive fires that almost engulfed the entire city. And scare tactics against Germany you say, who months before surrendered?
There are clear historical evidence that A-bombs in Japan was totally unnecessary, they were used in order to test them in a real scenario, AND, of course, show the Soviets that they shouldn't mess with the US.

Please read the history to completely understand. I'm not going to teach the smart people of snort to 'suck eggs' on nuclear effects.
FYI I'm an NBCD instructor
