Jocksweed , what an idiotic thing to say ; the corvette has already shown it out-handles the European super cars on the GT race tracks and in every test done by performance magazines. And it does it for one forth the cost of the Porshe or Ferrari.

Not 'wise', 'aware' of the stats on performance cars.Jocksweed says Corvettes are all muscle and no handling yet Corvette ZO-6 's win on a regular basis on the GT race tracks worldwide.They finished first and second at LeMans four years straight (2002-2005). They now out-run all the European production cars for one-fourth the cost. Put another 25 thousand in the Corvette and nothing will run with it. Remember , the ZO-6 only costs $75,000 US which is a real deal.

Ali, Norway ain't known for super cars, and typing fast causes miss-spelled words as YOU should well know.I have quit criticizing others on this site for spelling errors because of the diverse languages the posters speak . For instance you should have used the word 'don't' instead of 'doesn't' in your critisism of me.
All of the super cars are fast but the Corvette is by far the best 'bang' for the buck.

Definitely a bargain of a car. The 2009 Corvette ZR1 will be even sicker. 638 horses coming from a supercharged 6.2 liter V-8. And for an American car, it gets better gas mileage than any other super car except the Porsche GT3. Not a bad deal at all for $105,000 US.

Oldfart: depends - After driving a slightly modified 2007 STI on a race track.. its got a lot going for it for the price. I'm sure evo's would be in a similar category but I have a soft sport for the suby.

Then again, some of the hot Audi (rs4) or Porsche offerings would also be sweet.

I'd have to say my preference would be for the Japanese cars, because I can afford them

Really hard to say... I would love a rally spec peugeot.. or citroen...

I do not crave any American cars (or Australian - im Australian, our cars are crap).

Oldfart - you forget, that they drive modified, with super-everything cars in LeMans, those cars are not stock. Everything is modified.

And the fact, that Corvette wins it, is due to teamwork, the driver and then the car. It doesnt prove that it's handling is the best. It only proves, that it's overall calibration is good.

I'm not saying that the new Corvette is a bad-handling car. It handles very well, I've seen tons of footage.
But all the other corvettes before it handles horribly, and you cannot deny that. Which means, that more than 90% of Corvettes on the face of the earth (probably even more) are those of old model, and they HANDLE LIKE SOAP.

You take a fact about a new model of a car, and make a conclusion about all the Corvettes ? Wow, you're one SMART guy.

Not to mention, that you don't know what kind of Corvette is in the video. Grow up a little, think wider.

Driving that fast is stupid on an open course. Even if you are an excellent driver you cannot assume that everyone else on the road has your skills. All it takes is for some one to move into your lane and you are dead.

as far as i have seen .. this has been filmed on the german autobahn and the people in germany are trained to handle those situations with ease
although is not illegal to ride that fast. and there are no intersections.

i am wondering whats more dangerous... driving 250km/h or driving 140km/h and holding a camera? ... i think they are even though

but its definitely a Corvette. i have driven 2(@ regular speed limit) of the three i had access to. i will say that they stick to the road like super-glue. but @ $4/ gallon i wouldn't be owning one anytime soon.

At $650,000 it should do 300 mph! I'm betting that for maybe another $100,000 put into the ZO-6 it would go over 250 mph too.

you can take any Corvette you want, put all the money into you want, and take it to any professional customization shop you want and you wont break 250mph(and why would u get a ZO-6 the 2009 ZR1(approximately 3,350 pounds) from the factory will do 205 mph).

F1 cars have a million+ dollars into them and there top speed are 230mph on/off track(The minimum weight permissible is 1334 lb including the driver, fluids and on-board cameras). and thats with $30,000 in carbon rotors and ceramics brake pads(Expensive carbon-carbon composite rotors - the same material used on the Space Shuttle - introduced by the Brabham team in 1976).

so a 3,350 pound corvtte car will out run a 1334 pound F1 car?(including driver...etc) no, go read more.

Its a new Corvette, pause it and look in the side mirror. Very distinctive front end and headlights. Now its harder to tell if its a ZO6 or just a normal one, but I would guess ZO6.

The new Corvettes are the best of their class, that is widely agreed on by experts. Go read up on them, and from what little I know about older Corvettes, i know they were all very good cars for their day.

Id take an Euro sports car over a corvette any day, but my choice of driving style, not because the Corvette is a bad car.
