Considering the size of that worm, I can only assume the insect was already dead and controlled by the worm. Just like Ophiocordyceps unilateralis.

Just curious.... How did this person know something would exit this praying mantis or just random gifs of insects recently sprayed with poison(s)? Seriously.... This is creepy as hell. I can't imagine where the hosts own anatomy fits in addition to parasite. Blech!
