I think this was on here before.... nevertheless, super slow motion is needed...

How about making stuff that isn't intended to maim, kill, or destroy?

It must be a really hi-tech gun, but it's still a useless piece of junk! I'll pick a machete over this "gun" any day.

I honestly think this was waste of R&D money... Unless it can move+aim and reload fast enough to accommodate at least the 60 000/min cadency, and I doubt it can do so with the 30 000/min already, then what exactly is the point? Yes, that one target is royally screwed, but so is any target shot with just one .50 BMG round (no matter whether it was fired from a sniper rifle or BMG itself)...

#2 from when this came around last (2010 I think) I believe it was an anti-missile system.

#2 this gun is intended to save lives, not take them. (Or at least, that's why it was being prototyped.)

With missiles that are capable of speeds several times that of sound, simple projectile-based defence systems are lacking. It's possible for the missile to fly between the bullets that are being spat out at a rate of 75 per second. For example, there's 12 metres between each bullet fired by an upgraded CIWS, which is the missile defence system on American warships.

Assuming the same muzzle velocity, this thing would be putting out bullets that are 5½cm apart (a couple of inches).

This weapon was developed by Metal Storm Limited which is a now defunct research and development company that was based in Brisbane, Australia that specialized in electronically initiated superposed load weapons technology. The first prototype was unveiled in 1997.
The weapon was meant for area-denial, not shooting down missiles.
The Israeli military has the Sentry Tech system along the Gaza border that is used for the same thing.

It is no feat to put dozens of barrels and claim it has incredible firerate when the reloading is done by human. It does 36 rounds at once, not unlike a shotgun would. Then it needs a slow manual reload. You can't also call this repetitive fire gun. The later models did incorporate stacked ammo; multiple projectiles inside one barrel. But true repetitive gun uses same barrel/barrels to fire multiple projectiles in repetition; it also means the guns has to retrieve and position the new projectile inside the barrel. Minigun is fast. Metal storm is incredibly slow.

#12 That is probably why the company failed.

#12 That can't be completely true. You say that it does 36 rounds at once and then need a manual reload however this does 180 that sounds like one coming from 36 barrels so it must be able to have several rounds in each barrel.
