#2 never crafted with wood before? Its actually the axe that's sharp. He's a master of his craft though and has put countless hours into what he does to do it so much skills and precision because it is harder than it looks.

I wonder if he sells them online, trouble is you would likely need a few fittings, the other trouble is that when they fit you would own a pair of wooden shoes >:)

Strong hands and sharp tools are needed, but he is working with poplar which is very soft wood.
Do people actually wear these clodhoppers or are they just for show?

#8 These shoes can be custom made. In the old days, they used a piece of cloth to messure the feet. and it was cut out to perfection, farmers (still now up to 40%) wear these 10 to 16 hours a day. it is very easy to walk through mud and wet clay. like it floats a bit on top. They are warmer than leather shoes.

I wear them on my free time, got them from klompenmaker in my village. It is called Scherjontjes. Here is the webshop, http://klompen-scherjon.nl/webshop/

There are lots of people still wearing them and it is also healthy footwear.
Also you can use them as protective shoes, they are tested
Can withstand a toe impact of 100 J en a pressure of 7500 N
On the top they can withstand an pressure of 2000 N.

So yes, I am a fan of these shoes.

#11 I didn't know that clogs were called klompen.
My mother used to scream at us boys for always clomping round the house.

#15 I know that there are different names.

None of the other names are cognates for a verb in English, and one that describes the sound you'd make walking in clogs. That's why it struck me.
