What starts off as a lot of a wood takes a long time to turn into not a lot of spoon.

Lovely to watch and fantastically skilful, but what's the point these days of making an implement that a machine can make in a single second resulting in a more hygienic end product? Not in any way disrespecting the craftsman, just asking the question.

I can remember sitting in the common room of a Youth Hostel some years ago....watching a guy make a wooden spoon using nothing but a sheath knife, and he did almost as good a job as this guy.

"So what did you do today son?"
"Well mum, I chopped down an entire forest and turned it into a drawer full of spoons."

Is this huge monster of a spoon supposed to go into someones mouth? I can see the point, that eating soup would go much faster though.

What an absolute waste of wood and we didn't even get a close up of the finished product. My dog chewed one of these the other day I had no idea someone had spent an entire afternoon making it, then made three more (that's two days work and sold them in Tesco's for 99p
