No, actually - I was speaking to an American friend of mine and his response was: "There were two problems with this method. Firstly, the guy rigging the dynamite was obviously inept. Secondly, not enough dynamite was used."

See - you CAN solve every problem with dynamite.

@ #4 - it looks like FAR too much dynamite was used. The dynamite should have been placed internally which would have been more effective at destroying the whole carcass.

WTF a half ton of TNT is barely enough to disintegrate a cow let alone a WHALE. If you want to disintegrate a whale just use about 300 lbs of THERMITE!

OK, they didn't cut it up because nobody wanted to? Cut it into two or three, use tugboats to drag the pieces into the sea. Far enough away so it doesn't wash back ashore.
