Very interesting. I wonder if a process-of-elimination can be compared to making decisions though. The roots of a plant could probably be comparable, when observing how they search out ground water.

"I'd like to share a revelation that I've had during my time here. It came to me when I tried to classify your species and I realized that you're not actually mammals. Every mammal on this planet instinctively develops a natural equilibrium with the surrounding environment but you humans do not. You move to an area and you multiply and multiply until every natural resource is consumed and the only way you can survive is to spread to another area. There is another organism on this planet that follows the same pattern. Do you know what it is? A virus. Human beings are a disease, a cancer of this planet. You're a plague and we are the cure."

#3 don't worry mate, this planet will be sterilized soon in sixth mass extinction.
instead of thinking about real threats like http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/phew-that-was-close-huge-asteroid-which-just-missed-earth-even-had-moon-1485453 humans are more focused on killing each other

Engineers didn't build transit systems, they evolved. In most parts of the world, major settlements pre-date motorised transport. To get from one settlement to another, you would follow the path of least resistance. As time progresses, and more people use the route, it will get "embedded" and in time become a road. The Romans formalised this process and made straight roads, which make the travelling time the shortest it can be, but they still have to circuit any major obstacles such as mountains, water or dense forest, and perhaps divert if it made sense (such as another settlement close to the intended route.
So, like people, slime mould is just plain lazy.

Soon we have biological self repairing spaceships made out of these slimes. We are possible the ones to build those in the future. Instead of the angry aliens attacking us ( as seen in movies and series) .
