It's not strangers that we need to be worried about. The whole "stranger danger" concept is harmful to child safety.

Use common sense and teach kids to use intuition, rather than convey that all strangers are bad until proven innocent.

The problem is that being told that don't talk to strangers is not enough. Children don't really consider people strangers unless they are shady looking people. If a kid sees a nicely dressed with good attitude person, the child might highly think of the person.
