I hope this robot knows the laws of robotics:

1.A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.

2.A robot must obey the orders given to it by human beings, except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.

3.A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Laws.

4 of those robots in my garden would be a very good protection against burglars.

Before the some of us start worrying about robots running around and killing everyone;

The robot IS preprogrammed, and you see the fine adjustments during the clip when Mr.Machii is liaising to one of the programmers.

Yes, they did record Mr.Machii's technique; in order to gain the 'coordinates'(points) and understand how the sword must move to make such astonishing cuts; separate system.

Please don't get me wrong, there ARE systems that process visual data, then in real-time 'teach'(program) the robot to output end results.

We are not as yet going to lose a sword-fight to a robot (just yet), the process speeds are to slow.

#1 the robot only knows what it's programmer writes to it. IMO robot laws are a great idea on paper, but realistically won't work.

What happens when a robot sees a human being about to harm another human being, or even themselves?

#1 unless it's automated drone designed to engage and kill the "enemy" :|
#4 what happens if robot is programmed to kill the "enemy", which would be the next step in drone development, and we are not to far from that point

#5 you answered your own question. It will ONLY do what it is programmed to do. It will only know the 3 laws if it is programmed to. Think of a robot as a baby or blank book, you only get out of them what you put in.
