Never knew you can go on water with a snowmobile.

#2. Short straight distances yes. But not for such a long run that includes turns. Perhaps I am wrong but to me the design and weight and sheer physics would not allow it. This is a movie prop creation and a modified snowmobile. Different ok, clever-ish ok but fake. But still no less awesome for an action sequence and idea.

Wow, I didn't expect a snowmobile to have the sufficient buoyancy. I made some google search and it seems that indeed some are designed with this capacity.

There is even a guy who seems to have "drove" more 112 miles on water in the book of records.

Also has alot to do with how the snowmobile works; big long tracked belt with big paddles on it constantly pushing the water away i.e the vehicle up. If he stopped or lifted the throttle even a little bit he would sink.

#4. 'it seems that indeed some are designed with this capacity' No kidding.
I would have never imagined this but I supose if you worked on ice flows and could fall in - flotation and the ability to drive out would be perfect. Does make sense.

That snowmobile sure sounds like it's got plenty of power!

Buoyancy has nothing to do with him not sinking. Like #5 said it is his speed and the power exerted against the water surface by that huge belt that keeps him on top. The front hull of the machine never even touches the water. It is similar to the motocross bike in the ocean a couple weeks ago.
Snowmobiles do not have any ability to float or even go slow on water. (i)

#3 you are so wrong, Mr.know-it-all. Here is a uncut video of someone obviously steering a snowmobile on water, and he only stops becouse the engine fails: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QGxVoyp0WKg

Here is another old one, sorry it's in Norwegian but he set a world record in 2005 for driving 61.2km on water, avarage speed was 70km/h. They also say in the video that you must maintain a speed of at least 25km/h or you'll sink.
