Actually, Snotr came up while the owner was telling who ever was publishing the site:

"www.thebestvideosite.com", then the publisher said, "thebestvideorite?", and then the owner told him, "No! S not R!"

And eventually that made this site SnotR ... (If you were reading it snoter, u were wrong.. It's read S not R!! =D)

Thats the dumbest reason for a domain name ever. But its random so it was probably cheaper.

i always thought snotr meant something between flickr and smotr (smotr means something in russian i think - to watch or smth)

If snotr really is pronounced "S Not R", well. For the past months i have been saying snoter and even if its pronounced wrong, its faster than saying "s not r"
