That's awesome.
Personally I'm not worried about these self-driving cars, I'm more worried about all those cars with idiot human drivers in them. >:)

I'm worried for the people who use the system so they can use their mobile phone. And forget they are inside a car driving it.

If the car is involved in an accident, whose insurance information do the police collect, the owner's or Tesla's? :x

yea, bc i just love the thought of hackers being able to give me a lethal 'joy ride' heh. Never mind trusting the computer to make all the right choices in any variable situation that can come up. Nah, I'll drive myself, thanks.

#2 and 3, Even if the car is driving, according to the letter of the law it's still illegal to use a cellphone behind the wheel.....

#5 I'm with you but I think they've already proven they can hack into current cars. Anything that is no longer analog is ripe for hacking. Most of the major components are now "fly by wire", hackable.

yea #7, unfortunately that's true, but still, no pt giving them even more options with more control, should they choose to hack it.

Don't get me wrong tho, the IDEA of a self driving car is cool, but only as a flight of fancy, for me personally anyhow.

It would be interesting to see what it did in the event of a multicar pileup on the freeway when it's only option is to get hit from behind or is that when the VTOL system kicks in. >:)

#6 Where I live it is illegal to hold any electronic device in your hand when behind the steeringwheel (on the road), what is not used to directly control the car or its functions like power steering, cruise control or drive assist. Even holding a mp3 player or radio remote is forbidden. It does not matter if it is turned on or off. Telling a cop "It was not turned on" is not a reason.

the fine is $200.
