Back in 2003 there was this guy Timothy Treadwell nicknamed Grizzly Man. He interacted with all the bears at his campsite and made friends but always complained about this one bear that was always pissed off for him being there. Later he ended up being eaten by that same bear.
If only he showed that bear who's boss by shooting it and mounting the bears head on a stake at his campsite the other bears would be like 'good we always knew that bear was a dick and now we know not to take Grizzly Man's kindness for weakness!' lol

I'm pretty sure that had he turned up while I was there I would have taken my chances
(slim though they may be) by jumping into the damn river. We don't get much in the way of 'large' wildlife in the UK ( except on a Friday night when the drunk women come rolling out of the pub ) and that damn bear was freakin' HUGE!

looking at the opening shot with all the bear or is it bear's in the river I would say this was prime salmon fishing time and food was plentiful. What an absolute privilege to get so close to that creature and not get eaten

Oh so when its kill or be killed y'all choose to be eaten alive by a pissed off bear. There is no subtext since I clearly speak English and not Metaphorish

#13 Drew Hamilton, an employee of the Alaska Department of Fish and Game, was relaxing at his campsite at the McNeil River State Game Sanctuary when a huge brown bear walked right up to check out the riverbed below. Surprisingly, Drew maintained his composure and managed to capture this footage.
He has a camera , not a fishing rod. I guess the bear doesn't see him as a competitor for the salmon.

The bear looked relaxed, even tired (he yawned)...and was making himself comfortable there...incredible..

#8 I used to have that on all day on the computer, and around September or so, when the salmon go up the river to spawn you could watch the bear catch them left and right..really cool

#22 Are you sure? To me it sure looks like a shotgun. There is the bottom where you feed the bullets (or shells or what is it called?)..there is the plastic pump grip underneath what looks like a short barrel..
I watched over and over..and to me it looks like a pumpgun laying on the ground next to the chair..nothing like a "chair mounted camera pole"
And they seem to be photographer..got a big camera mounted on a tripod as seen at the end. Why would you need a chair mounted pole on such crappy garden chairs if you can afford a normal tripod?

Hard to be positive but look at the end of the "barrel" where it gets small and has what looks to be a locking lever on the side. That looks to me like where the camera base would attach. Shotguns don't get smaller right at the end of the barrel for one thing and also only the guides are armed in the park.No hunting is allowed there.
Photographers never carry just one camera and they invent all sorts of mounts and poles to help get the best video/pictures.

Here is an interesting related news story....
Woman Stops Grizzly Attack With 25 Caliber Pistol!
Here's her story:
"While out hiking in Alberta Canada with my husband we were surprised by a huge grizzly bear
charging at us from out of nowhere.
She must have been protecting her cubs because she was extremely aggressive.
If I had not had my little Beretta Jetfire with me I would not be here today!
Just one shot to my husband's kneecap was all it took.
The bear got him and I was able to escape by just walking away at a brisk pace."
