I use it often in winter/on slippery road to save some parking time. But I guess the reverse with wheels turned right would be safer (at least on slippery road - front wheels can pull the rear axle even when fully blocked depending on car, but can't push against it so the car can't move back in a way it can move forward (and hit the car in front) like in this video).
