#1 The first steel framed sky scrapers went up in Chicago, they are beautiful structures, and were quite revolutionary for their time...Manhattan came afterwards..

The timeline is off by about 50 years. The Tower Building (circa 1889) was New York city's first skyscraper and had either eleven or thirteen floors, depending on which floors were counted and which side of the building was considered. The Otis elevator made these buildings popular because before that nobody wanted to climb much over 5 stories and rent at the top was cheap because of that.
All the tall buildings shown at the 1844 level were not actually there until about 50-60 years later.
