MIT cheetah robot lands the running jump

In a leap for robotic development, the MIT researchers who built a robotic cheetah have now trained it to see and jump over hurdles as it runs — making this the first four-legged robot to run and jump over obstacles autonomously. (Learn more: http://bit.ly/1JYy1bD)

Of course if they make it too jumpy the fecker will just run away one day and that will be it, they'll have to keep it on a lead. All they need to do now is give it a biting facility and we're all fecked. >:)

The sinister applications may spring to mind first, but what about getting supplies to people in dangerous situations after natural disasters for example?

The MIT news website reported this new development in May 2015 so whatever you saw before was probably a different "first" for the cheetah.

Amazing the negative comments..

Perhaps with proper protection it could be used to rescue forest fire fighters.. Run though the fire to location given by GPS and provided extra tools to stay safe. Any thing that needs an armored equipment deliverer..
