Shirtless Heat Loss Experiment In Freezing Conditions #Winterwatch - Earth Unplugged
Using the military spec Selex Merlin thermal imaging camera, Oli Martin vividly shows how the human body loses heat when exposed to the blistering cold of the Scottish highlands.
Earth Unplugged are with the #Winterwatch team up in the beautiful Cairngorms in the east highlands of Scotland. During the week we'll be releasing videos from Scotland showing some of the breathtaking animals found here as well as highlighting the intrepid production crew that bring the Winterwatch show to life!

Hey, what do you know? If you remove your clothes in cold weather, YOUR BODY GETS COLD. Mindblowing.

It is clearly a case of paradoxical undressing, a bizarre phenomenon that makes people with hypothermia discard their clothes. This is actually quite common and seems to occur in about 25% of cases of lethal hypothermia.

#9 are you sure 99% of that 25% aren't drunk?
That's interesting, I had to look it up. This tries to explain why which kind of makes sense. http://www.livescience.com/41730-hypothermia-terminal-burrowing-paradoxical-undressing.html
What amazed me is how high the temp is for the term hypothermia, only 95F core temperature. I would have guessed it much lower. It's amazing how fragile we really are yet seem so robust overall.

We are warm blooded organisms, our window of normothermia being very narrow, compared to cold blooded organisms, reptiles for instance, whose range of normothermia is very wide..
