Don't run when you meet a bear. Its a sign of weakness and it makes you a prey. A bear with head high or standing on two feet are curious and you can just leave quietly. A bear with head low, speeding towards you is probably pissed off, and if so you are fucked.

I met a bear when I was fishing last summer. Suddenly it was there, 20 meters away. But we separated as friends. I went home to change underwear.
