yeah i think it's real , because i lived in the caribeens islands, an we all know, sometimes when you cut the head of the snake it can still project some poison, (it already happens in this situation, the poison made one little tree dry...)

Most likely real; I have seen a tiger snake do something very similar. Solution bash the head with a shovel that will kill the sucker.

:'( Ok then, who was the BIG MAN who chopped its head off in the first place? Was it about to launch an unprovoked attack or was it just in the wrong place at the wrong time? Sick bastards, leave these animals alone unless they are about to attack for no reason, which is so unlikely as to be NEVER!

#6 We do it to lower populations of animals so they won't overpopulate and do it to us. Yet, I'm sure some hippes will say: "Maybe they should overpopulate and do it to us." which wouldn't be so smart to say.

I wouldn't be playing with it, just because the head got separated from the body doesn't make the poison harmless all of a sudden. I remember as a kid being chased around by headless chickens and turkeys at butchering time, the nerves aren't dead yet in all of these cases.

#(removed comment) sorry I missed this from your earlier comment but you said "Rattlers do not turn and run...they stand and fight with deadly intent." and that is in fact completely false. A rattler doesn't want to deal with you anymore than you want to deal with him. He will flea if he can but will stand his ground when cornered as any animal will to protect it's self. Of course I am not a snake expert, but this is what I know to be true of the snakes here in south Florida. there may be rattlers elsewhere that are more aggresive but I don't think so.

I agree with #6 and #24
#8 and #(removed comment) on the other hand, are idiots...

No wild animal will purposely try to attack or endanger anyone outside of their menu unless that someone poses a direct threat to the wild animal.. If you're minding your business at home, and a bear comes in the front door - ofcourse you will defend yourself. Same goes for the rattler who is in its natural habitat in the wild and man is the invader.

[Quote/] We do it to lower populations of animals so they won't overpopulate and do it to us... [/]
What a crock of shit! You do it because you think it's fun for some odd reason.. In the last 100 years or so, EVERY SINGLE ecosystem (apart from antropogenous ones) has been in decline, the populations associated with them naturally also.

[Quote/] Would you feel the same way about a Funnel Web spider that took-up living around your children's sandbox ? Deadly animals can not be allowed to exist in areas where confrontation is likely , like around your home or ranch.[/] Well, this is true in a way. On the other hand what most people don't realize is that your home or ranch (particularly in new-made suburban areas) is situated in those animals' natural habitat - THEIR HOME. Ensure they can't crawl in your backyard by securing it thoroughly.. Chopping off a snakes head because it poses a threat to your pool-party is not the answer. You are the threat!
Picture of moskwiz36 achievements

+1 27. moskwiz commented 15 years ago

Oh.. and that snake in the video is not alive. Muscle twitching can occur on all vertebrates after sudden deadly trauma. Chickens can even run away after being decapitated.
Picture of moskwiz36 achievements

+2 28. moskwiz commented 15 years ago

The last sentence in your reply is the one you should stick with.. That's about it.. :)

I quote myself [No wild animal will purposely try to attack or endanger anyone outside of their MENU unless that someone poses a direct threat to the wild animal..] Now WHAT PART OF the word 'MENU' don't you understand??!? Menu, as in stuff that the animal eats.. so if Cougars, Tigers and Polar Bears prey on man for food, then what part of what i said contradicts that?!?

And again.. NO animal (and we're talking healthy, distress-free animals in their own habitat) will try to attack you just because they're considered aggressive. A snake will pursue you in the bush because YOU ARE in its natural habitat, its the snakes home and it feels threatened by your presence (you being a big tall, extremely smelly and weird creature who moves around a lot). The word aggressive doesn't mean that an animal will do anything outside their instincts (stay alive, get food, reproduce), which attacking you 'without provocation' would be. It just means that an aggressive animal will more likely pick self-defense as a means to stay alive, over escaping.

I'm not saying man should the bitch of all the other animals because we have the ability to differentiate right from wrong.. I'm saying we also have the ability to understand quite a lot of how things work, for an example, with animals. And chopping off a snakes head because it got pissed off when you decided to go (figuratively speaking) poking it with a stick, is not acting upon that ability =)

Anything else? Or have I been dedacted from the ranks of '..stupid, uneducated fools'? :*
Picture of moskwiz36 achievements

+2 29. moskwiz commented 15 years ago

Well I've been in close contact with both polar-bears, tigers and cougars (not to mention a lot of venomous snakes) and just because the books don't say that humans are not normal prey doesn't mean that the aforementioned beasts could not consider us as a food source.

Just because you don't know that a rattler is lurking behind a rock, doesn't man that the rattler doesn't know you're coming. All snakes have an excellent sense of smell, rattlers included.

I say again: NO healthy wild animals will EVER distinctively attack anyone who isn't considered either dinner or a direct threat to the well being of the attacker (this includes not only the attacker itself, but depending on who we're talking about it might also include the attackers packmates or siblings or indeed why not even territory [if the attacker is a territorial animal]).

Whatever you think the rattler attacked you for, the reason is not in conflict with what I just said.
Animals (wild animals) don't do pointless things: it's a waste of energy.

USA#1 I did say that I was not an expert and thanks for the information on all the rattlers.
I have come across many a snakes in my years here in Florida and the rattlers always ran. The moccasins attacked. And I know that I spelled flee wrong :D but couldn't go back and change it. I still feel that no matter which breed of rattler it is, rather than being aggressive, they are more territorial and see you as being a threat, which you are. I don't think they're being aggressive just for the hell of it. In other words, they won't seek you out, but will stand their ground protect their home.
It goes with out saying that regardless of which breed of rattler it is, I don't want it in my yard!! We'll leave it at that. :)

oh yeah and USA#1 I have no problems with someone informing me about a mistake I may have made, or correcting me. However, you don't have to be a prick about it (which you are and have proven yourself so many times here), just state your case without the snide comments and move on ok!?

#(removed comment) .. The Zoo naturally :D

No seriously my father is a zoologist who specializes in animal behavior, I've been associated with the Zoo since I was like 4, have gotten behind all closed doors etc. I have touched a full grown male polar-bear, an Amur tiger, lynxes ,chimpanzees etc. etc. I know quite a bit about various vertebrates and how they see the world around them :)

USA#1 everyone has their place in the world and yours is to be that irritating itch in the middle of your back that you can't quite reach and won't go away

I try to avoid being "caustic" as you say unless someone really pushes my buttons. But, as I said earlier, I don't mind being corrected or having someone else disagree with me but you always start out with snide remarks and a holier-than-thou attitude.
I quote "@#24 You would have been better off if you had missed my earlier post because now I have to enlighten you about rattlesnakes." It really isn't neccesary to be a snot about it, just state your case.

LOL, how about we call a truce? (spelling?)
I never had a chigger bite, I've heard that they're nasty! Ticks, fleas, horseflys, fire ants, wasps, bees, hornets of all kinds, jellyfish, crabs, (not THAT kind) and I even got bit by a snook one time, but never a chigger!

OK this is just getting ridiculous, so I'll kindly step aside for the clash of the Titans (USA and MszZoomy) may continue without me..

And to reply to #(removed comment) [/]Dead is dead,so going back to the original point about allowing dangerous animals of any type to make your home THEIR home, that is out of the question for me.[] And again you astound me with apparently being incapable of actually reading my posts..
I said a number of times, and I'll say again: It's THEIR HOMES WE ARE INVADING, not the other way around. We are people, we have knowledge to try and live side by side with wild animals.. most of us just don't want to (or don't care) use it out of ignorance..

And yes, Zoo animals are often well fed and less aggressive than their wild counterparts, which still wouldn't constitute my points as any less relevant =)

Don't make me make another reply ;) :D

So this is where we disagree..

I believe that Man should respect the other species that live on this planet. After all we are all inhabitants of the same world. And I believe that if a new suburb is built on a rattlesnake 'infested' area, then killing off the rattlesnake population and justifying it with Man having to defend itself or whatever such is not the right answer.. That's ignorant. We are intelligent, rattlers aren't! We have more ways to defend ourselves than rattlers, we should use them!!!

But I'm really done now.. Pretty sure you're gonna want to have the last say in this so this is my last post.

Until the next touchy-subject video I bid you farewell

@#(removed comment)....
I'd rather have a video game fused to my hand than something else which is obviously what you have, which in turn is doing damage to your narrow minded opinion and also swelling your lonely ego, hey why don't we just wipe out every other animal in the world and be done with it!! go usa go!
ps....I'm sure that you would add that there is a few people in the world that you would eradicate as well, if they are in your way!!! maybe you should read what you have written, stand back and have a good old think to yourself!!!then look in the mirror and understand why you act the way you do!!!lol :'(

I'm gonna just skip past the paragraphs about whether or not the snake should or should not have lost his head... and just comment about how FREAKY it was to see it snap. Incidently I have chopped the heads off of many a snake (usually water moccassins, not spelled right I know, that come up from the lake by my house) but I've never seen this happen!
