Guy Shreds On An Insane Instrument

It's a violin, it's a sitar, it's a guitar rolled into one. A nyckelharpa. :D

I'v seen it once in a swedish medieval museum. The guide told us that almost no one knows how to plays it anymore.
I'm not sure they used to play this kind of song on it but it sounds good anyway.

#1 Come on. He's spent his whole life mastering this instrument. This weird obscure instrument. And this is the only time any of us will ever see it........

Sooooo instead of touching the frets, it uses some insanely complicated series of levers that click like mad and that you can hear over the music to touch them instead?

Nothing like being complicated solely for the sake of being complicated. I didn't hear anything here that couldn't be played on a regular violin.....

Not saying it doesn't take mad skill to be able to play at this level (on anything).....but I'm just not seeing the point.

The lovechild of a violin and a typewriter. Great stuff.

#6 I guess the point is that this instrument predates the violin by about two hundred years.

#9 #11 my guess is he's reading the score - you know, the thing that says when to play what notes?
