Great idea but I was younger and my Uncle had a summer cabin. The place was infested with mice. We probably caught 50 or more mice bagged them up and put them in a fire pit soaked with gasoline. Then we wrapped a bunch of toilet paper soaked in kerosene around a stick and threw the flaming torch on the campfire. Those were the good ol' days.
What else should we have done? Taken it to the animal shelter?

#5 : You could have taken all your mice miles away with your car (or by walking a little), they wouldn't be able to come back and they had a second chance to live elsewhere (or they will feed whatever useful predator!). It is what I do with mice, caught by a trap which don't kill them.

#11 That's what we did years ago, living in an old house, caught 18 mice and took the all about 8 km away into the woods...
#9 What you are referring to must be rats, city rats...not mice.

#13 I suppose #9 was catching an occasion for a joke. How to catch a rat? I have some I would like them to go away but the only thing which works is to poison them and them it's awful to see them dying (And let's forget the smell for the hidden ones). Ultrason noises seems not work and they are clever enough to avoid the non-letal trap I have.

#14 Haha, yeah, you're right, should've noticed by the tooth-missing emoji Yes, I heard they are very hard to get rid off, even with poison...learned to survive no matter what..
