Where I grew up squirrels were very rare, think I saw one *once*. It came to me as quite a surprise to find out that they're actually considered vermin in some countries. I've always liked squirrels...

This is a red squirrel which are now very rare in the UK. Totally due to the introduction of the American grey Squirrel which annexed them. You now only find Red's in parts of Scotland and they are endangered. The Grey's are everywhere and a nightmare in a lot of Gardens in England as they steal food put out for garden birds and Hens, the barstewards :)

#3 Even though also very cute, you are right, the Eastern Grey Squirrel is very aggressive in behavior and pushing for territory. Here too, they steal tomatoes off the vines, and every year they steal about 75% of the peaches off my peach tree. On the other hand they are easy to tame, which I used to do years ago, had two individuals come and sit on my lap while I fed them peanuts, the children were small then and really enjoyed that interaction.
