What I don't get is what are the criterias to tell when a city becomes a city as they don't appear as if by magic. In other words : when is it considered a town and no more an antic hamlet or a medieval small village and appear as such on the video (great video though) ?

I love timelines like that, even if some dates are slightly off, it gives you the big picture of the development of civilization.
