#4. umm...its a big inflatable thing! I THINK it's something to do with when a plane crashes at sea....assuming the pilot manages a 'belly flop' and there's survivors i think that's one of the inflatable boats they have...just a guess mind you, but it would explain the practice scenario in a pool.

#4 it's an aircraft evacuation slide: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Evacuation_slide
so #5 is right. It's not only used for water landings but also for ground landings as a way to reach the ground. Some slides can be detached after a water landing, to double as a life raft.
