I wonder if there is a cultural component involved in the results of this experiment.

haaa group conformity. When I was in school a teacher told us a simple experiment to see how subjective we can be to a group.
Go outside in a crowded street, walk with people, everyone walks the same direction and almost the same speed. Then stop and stay immobile suddenly, let the people flow around you. The first ones will look at you, considering your action has a strange, but soon no one will look at you, you're not in the group anymore, the flow will adapt around you.
If you feel comfortable being this rock in the flow then this kind of experiment won't work and you'd surely feel amazed looking at those people standing up. It you feel uncomfortable and decide to move, then this experiment will surely work on you.

It may seem simple, but try it once and you'll see it's not this easy. It's even harder with people you know, but it works. After some times some other people may even stop with you and that becomes fun :)

#5. I agree there ! That's Pavlovian conditioning that there is. Oh lord they would hate me though....after the second time I'd start laughing inside ( I'm evil like that ) after the third time I'd stand...but after they had sat down. I am not a number...I am free man!

#7 You should make people conform to wearing a kilt by wearing it all the time, pretty soon everyone will follow your lead...hmmm....wondering what JJ would look like in a kilt?:O ;)

#8 Oh no, no skirts or dresses for me I'm an Englishman and proud of it. Well to be accurate I'm proud to be an Englishman amongst Englishmen like me, there are a lot of Hinglanders that I'm not proud to be connected to by nationality. I'm fairly sure Cameramaster would feel the same about some of his clan members. :*<3

Very interesting. Not sure I'd conform. I have a tendency to do the opposite.
