Shell Beach (Shark Bay, Western Australia)
Approx 900 Klms North of Perth, Western Australia, is a 60km long stretch of beach which is covered with billions of tiny "coquina bivalve shells" to a depth of 7-10 metres. The high water salinity in the area has resulted in the proliferation of this particular species, while many other species are not. Its predators do not cope well in this environment.
