World Battleground, 1000 years of war in 5 minutes
This animation shows all important battles that took place over the last ten centuries. The sizes of the explosions and labels are proportional to the number of casualties. The music is "Ride Of The Valkyries" by Richard Wagner. The data comes from the wikipedia article, List of Battles.
Most of the activity seems to happen in Europe, this is because the english wikipedia was used. In a future release of this video I will merge wikipedias in different languages to solve this bias.

Sadly, It's missing most of the wars in China which forged its history. Even most the ones including european countries like the Portugal, France even England vs the Ming and Qing Empire or all the sino-russian conflicts.
This video is missing some polishing and review on its data. But that's a good start.

"to be continued" ?!!
And this euphoric music?!!
This idiot really seems to hope for the 3. world war (which already seems to begin in Ukraine and near east).

#4 I agree, more likely to be 'to be concluded'

#4 "this idiot" made an effort , and an informative (although unpolished) video, and if you read the description "Most of the activity seems to happen in Europe, this is because the english wikipedia was used. In a future release of this video I will merge wikipedias in different languages to solve this bias."

I thought it was a great idea, and pretty well done- really gives a sense of relative times of war, and where we are now in history. Of course you can't read the words. That would take you hours, even if they were big enough. That is part of the power of the video.
And the Europeans are a fighty little bunch of f*ckers aren't they?

I agree with #1, I almost did not submit this video because of not being able to read the historic events...I hope they will revise and repost it, because the video itself is great, but they need to include the recent war in Kosovo...Burimi, you know a lot about history!

I like the idea but the video graphic is poor since lot o battle names I couldn't read.
1st Kosovo battle isn't mentioned 1389
2nd Kosovo battle on 1448 is mentioned only as battle of Kosovo
Also the conquest of the Constatinople (now Istanbul) isn't mentioned at all on 1453.
The Ottomans were commanded by the then 21-year-old Mehmed the Conqueror, the seventh sultan of the Ottoman Empire, who defeated an army commanded by Byzantine Emperor Constantine XI Palaiologos.
The conquest of Constantinople (now Istanbul) followed a 53-day siege that had begun on 6 April 1453.
At the end its written: To be continued.
I hope it will continue to be edited on quality not on wars and battles
