This is a wonderful place, big big ups for promoting adoption, and the videos are heart-warming... however... I think it is important to not forget that this is called 'Land of the Strays' so all of the beautiful creatures have been most likely abandoned, left to fend for themselves, dumped, or not really looked for after running away. I would guess that given the sizes – most were probably too expensive to maintain or they got too old, required too much maintenance, became ill, or were no longer cute enough. And that sickens me. People disposing or abandoning such lovely critters like they were property is kind of a universal thing and it saddens me. To be honest I wish such brilliant stray dog reserves were not needed. Ironically, these scenes of joy and happiness were largely created by human selfishness – so always adopt and try live by the mantra that a pet is a responsibility for life. We owe it to them.

#4 Could not have put it better, Well said. I now have a total of 9 dog's i have rescued from Spain and Romania (plus my own ones) and i prefer there company to Human company. How people can be cruel to animals is beyond me and i could quite happily be cruel to the extremes to people who do this.:squirrel::squirrel:

A very rare sight to see so many dogs running free wonderful sight these strays have a better life than most of the dogs kept as pets it's just a shame they had to go through the trauma of becoming strays first. I hope more and more people in Costa Rica adopt them. It doesn't mention if the organisation neuter the dogs which would be quite an expense but a necessity I would have thought. <3

Had to take my dog to the vet today because of a persistent cough, was put on steroids and antibiotics, if no improvement in 2 weeks -> chest xray to see if he has fluid on his lungs....:(

Funnily enough I also had to take one of my dogs to the vet yesterday 3rd visit also was put on Steroids and antibiotics seems to have works on this occasion. Thought she had had a stroke (the none nice kind) she's 13yrs. Seems fine now. <3

#12 I'm glad I'm not alone with the dog issues....mine is on these meds a second time around, the first time was kennel cough after a weekend in the kennel (I had to be out of town) despite him being vaccinated for it...they can still get it...I had to kennel him again for two weeks while I was in Germany and now he probably has it again, hope that's all it is and not fluid on his lungs....glad to hear yours is doing well now...I kinda assume that the negative was from someone not liking the content, in other words supprting me...thanks for neutralizing me <3 :*
