If you have no tools to connect them properly, you find a temporal solution, for instance twinning them. When you come home (or where ever) you connect them properly. The method presented here is making a temporal solution permanent.

The first time I needed to join two wires together, that's what I did without giving it a second thought. It just seems obvious.

Don't forget to slide on a piece of heat shrink first, so you can cover the wire. Better than tape.
