And also missing some of the early flag modifications of western europe. That implied current italian, belgian, luxemboug, spanish and french.

For the Greenland it's because back in the viking times (around 1000) the south of the greenland was warmer and it was green back then.

For Belgian vs German flag. The belgian one comes from the belgian national protest against the king of the Netherlands. First they used French flags for the strips, then they changed the colors to match the Duchy of Brabant (black with a gold lion), which used to be the biggest part of belgium times ago.
The German one is an old one that comes from the revolutions in 1850-ish, that marked the Weimar Republic. If i remember well the colours are from the main political parties in that time. It was reinstated after WWII.
I think the Belgian one came before the German one but not many years.

In fact it's quite fascinating in regard of history how deep a flag can represent a country through history.
