I'm not one of those who yell "fake" on Snotr... But I do think this one is. (Still a cool vid though) but it may be a viral ad campaign for GM.

In order for a tow truck to operate its hydraulics (to lift the car off its back wheels), it has to engage the PTO (power takeoff). In order for the PTO to engage the truck must be in (P)ark. If this were the case, that SUV would be going nowhere even if it IS FWD. You'd ruin the car pretty quick if you tried it.

#5 plus you have to tow a car by lifting up the drive axle, otherwise you'll kill the whole drive shaft and transmission. So if it isn't the guy's first day on the job, he wouldn't have it for long when customer complaints are starting to pour in.

This can't be real-- his rig wouldn't roll with hydraulics engaged. As for comment #6, it might be that he was going to put rolling dollies under the other wheels if that's an all-wheel drive vehicle.

I think the hydraulics had in fact been disengaged because the car was already connected to the truck, with the hydraulic lift being back in locked position.
But that is just a guess.

#5 If the tow truck was a Manual then the transmission would have to be in neutral for the PTO to be engaged and run the hydraulics. And if the tow truck had a weak E brake then it would easily have been pulled away.
