This man's experience will pale in significance compared to the impending AI revolution.
Do you think your job's safe?
Think again.

This is total BS. If this guy moved out of one of the most expensive counties for cost of living in America his situation might be completely different. Why the hell did he stay there?

Perhaps he should have confronted reality sooner. :'(

#1 Totally agree with you up there Foxy. AI is going to affect nearly everybody. If you drive for a living maybe delivering, taxi driver, bus, tram, train driver you are going to loose you job. Work in a warehouse, you're gonna be replaced by a robot, an office? there will be no need for offices. Work in retail, you're gonna loose your job. I don't need to go on...

But I will....any job where what you do can be automated or copied by a Robotic workforce you are going to loose your job. Think of it like this...Around thirty years ago in the UK most shops closed on a Sunday, the law changed and they were allowed to open so some did, then all of them did. One couldn't afford to close as they would loose business, they loose business they can't compete they disappear.

Now with AI any cost to a business that doesn't need to be there i'e wages, will make them unprofitable against other businesses of every type that remove that cost with AI, so just like Sunday trading it will spread to every area. The whole economy of the world will change dramatically the rich poor/ balance will be massive, mass unemployment and probably a total breakdown of society. You can't even protect yourself by going into AI production because ultimately it will become a massive self build then it's Terminator time....Happy New Year everyone. JJ SASSP.

There is a fine line between unemployment and government staying power. The federal government in the great depression came close to being over thrown. That is why public improvements programs WPA & CCC were created and funded. Introduction of robotics's and driver-less vehicles, etc, had better be balanced against the employment and opportunities of people that want to work. There will never be a Venezuela in the US because the deplorables that don't believe in socialism is not about to let it happen.

The dark side of the progress... What progress?!

Block chain will make bankers obsolete at least i wont moan after them.
And this security/banker does not know much, if he was paying rent all his life and he has 2 college degrees.

I wont miss car noise or its exhaust,
i wont miss the car horns and sirens or jams.
even 911 will go, i can imagine network of drones with electromagnets deployed to prevent crime. To stop a bullet might be a bit far fetched, but im sure it would at least spoil aiming.

Progress is slowed by the people who dont want to lose their jobs so they hold on for dear live and do everything that is possible that this status quo wont move.

And like I've said before: "However, let there be no doubt. We built it and they have come; corruption is a natural symptom of the human condition. But they are part of us, and thus we have only ourselves to blame. I implore you to stop the madness, before it is too late. Too late not for humanity (I would have to be mad to speak like a prophet), but too late for yourselves as contributing members of society and conceivers of the future. Prosperity and success above basic security and happiness, for the majority of us, are in reality the seeds of compensation and delusion, not the American Dream."

#6 just my own reflective thoughts, but maybe he was taught that capitalism is the same as progress. We see it everyday all over the world. "They" (meaning the capitalistic fronts) want us to spend more money, and consume more things, and reproduce so we make new potentially future "customers". But that mentality only leads us in one direction, and that is eventually to consume everything there is on this planet. I've been to many meetings in different companies, and all those "motivational" speakers they hire all say the same thing, "Sell more, get more customers, expand, grow, get more customer" ,and so on. Of course they just wrap it up in fancy stories with an emotional twist, and/or hide it between the lines of some mass produced lie. And on the paper, its working, its a mentality that has grown very, very strong in the "modern" world, we are addicted to money. It will eventually be the downfall of the world we know today, given enough time. My concern is whether or not we are able to turn around in time, not because of technical challenges, but due to our nature to fail at resisting the gold. My ideal world doesn't involve no rich or poor people, but a world that at least is in a stable growth rate, self sustaining, and clean. And having a stable society shows stagnation in growth in most cases, poor countries with unstable governments, and/or war shows that birth rate is higher than the contrary, stable countries. To make people at ease and get a slower growth rate, we need to lessen the gap between the rich and poor, and have stable governments to prevent political unrest, as well as a more fair system on how we calculate wealth and how we distribute it. How? I dunno... i'm just thinking loud...

He should mentor the next generation in business. Give speeches about his professions and society in general. One of the main issues is that they aren't invited in to talk about shaping our world.

#11 This man knows nothing about 'shaping our world'.
The narrator was correct right at the start.
He is a dinosaur.
