grabbing the cat in the neck like that makes the cat calm down. it basically cant feel a thing while being carried in the neck like that. it has a lot of loose skin right there and cats are used to being carried around like that. still. you shouldnt do it too often.

we had a litter of 9 kittens a few years back. the mother moved them between 3 very hard to find spots in the house. the behaviour of the mother cat is very interesting, especially the way they look at you when you find their latest hiding spot. their expression is as if she were both defending her kittens and asking you if you are as proud of her creations as she is
