This was a real dust storm, I don't know if it really was in AU or not, but the thing's real enough.
"Real" means genuine. A "reel" is used for a spool of film or a spool of line on a fishing rod.

0:32 LOL... even though there is nothing called Ayers rock in Australia, it is Uluru. and a LOL at myself, i thought they crashed at 1:32

if you look closely they were using headlights, and it didn't help, that's bad, I think they had to edit out the part at the end where the semi-truck hit the car and destroyed them

What if another car full with people thinking of doing the exact same thing came from the other side? In that darkness? Yikes.
